WHAT KIND OF BOW DO I NEED?
A Recurve or Compound Bow will work fine, anything between  40-60lbs works well. Most Bowfisherman will shoot fingers, so pick a bow that is forgiving for best results.
WHAT KIND OF FISH CAN I SHOOT?
Check with your local authority, in most states non game fish such as Carp, Gar, and Buffalo are considered Non Game Fish. (Rough Fish)
WHAT KIND OF ARROWS DO I NEED?
There are many choices in Fish Arrows, choose a point that will hold fish as well as hold up to the abuse of Impacting rocky bottoms etc...   Stainless Steel or Hardened points work well in most conditions. The larger span barbs or 4 barbs work well on the larger fish.
WHAT KIND OF REEL DO I NEED?
There are 3 choices, you can hand wrap line around a spool, or install a Reel Seat into the existing Stabilizer bushing, allowing you to mount a Spincast Reel. You will also need Fast Flight Bowfishing Line or Equivalent. Third choice is the Retriever Bowfishing Reel, no extra items are required, mounts on side of riser in existing sight holes, comes with mounting screws, 2 Safety Slides, 35yds of 130# test Line and Spacer. Reel works with Zero Drag, the line is stacked ina bottle rather than wound on a Drum or Spool.
WHAT KIND OF LINE DO I NEED?
You need to determine what kind of reel you are shooting. When using the hand Wrap Reel you can use as little as 80# Nylon Line or any of the heavier line. Spincast Reels like the braided Bowfishing line ranging from 80-200# test. Brownell 200# Fast Flight is a proven favorite, Retrievers like the heavier diameter lines, such as the Muzzy Extreme Line 200# or the AMS standard 130# Test.
WHAT KIND OF REST DO I NEED?
There are several rest available. Most all Bowfishing Rest work well. Avoid some of the Traditional Hunting Rest, as they have more parts that could cause problems with line being tangled.            SEE HOME PAGE ON SNAPBACK.
HOW DO I AVOID ARROW SNAPBACK?
It is recommended that you never tie line to the tail of an arrow. Line can be caught by String, Cables or Rest, allowing Arrow to Travel in reverse back at the shooter.                                ALWAYS USE SAFETY SLIDES OR A CABLE SYSTEM.
HOW DOES THE SLOTTED RETRIEVER WORK?
The slotted Retriever has the same features as the Standard model, but allows the use os a Float or Deep Sea Rig. Use this Float for Alligator Gar, Shark, Stingray etc... Once arrow is in Fish the line will be pulled from the reel and take the Float. Retrieve float and go get that Trophy.
